Job Description:

The Counselor works under minimal supervision and is responsible for providing individual, family, and group counseling.  The incumbent may direct clinical services and therapy to program participants with a mental, emotional, and/or behavioral health disorder. The incumbent is also responsible for conducting assessments and screenings to include completion of bio-psychosocial history/evaluation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participates in departmental meetings and planning and development sessions as required;
  • Participates in quality improvement processes;
  • Identifies and targets professional development goals using a strength-based perspective to advance skills and knowledge;
  •  Develops and fosters effective working relationships with community partners;
  • Monitors quality and efficacy of services in gaining progress toward stated goals;
  • Maintains effective and timely communication with team members to facilitate service implementation;
  • Assesses cultural and language needs to ensure cultural sensitivity;
  • Performs all client record documentation in a quality and timely manner;
  •  Works as an integral member of team in other program projects as needed;

Job Requirements:

  • Must be available to work non-traditional hours and be on call as necessary for crisis situations;
  • May require out of town travel for professional conferences and meetings;
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work place environment;
  • Performs such other related duties as may be assigned;

Qualification & Experience:

  • Home counseling or off-site counseling;
