Job Description:

Reporting to the Supervisor of Payroll, the Payroll Administrator is responsible to ensure accurate and, timely processing of full cycle payroll activities while ensuring the College is in compliance with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), CAAT, Union and other governing agencies in PeopleSoft HCM-Payroll for North America system. The incumbent works as key a team player in administration and processing of payroll in the payroll department.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Payroll processing calculation and uploading data to pay line, running and reviewing query, validating deductions accuracy and compliance
  • Collect, process and communicate payroll information adhering to the service level standard and business policies and standards.
  • Prepare, maintain and process salaried and hourly payrolls and ensure timely preparation and verification of employee pay statement. The information will include, but is not limited to, appointment notices, terminations, leaves of absence, reduced workloads, benefit changes, Personnel Action Forms, timesheets, contracts, authorizations for payment of overtime/shift premiums, transfers, TD1’s, tax waivers, sabbaticals, secondments, and salary changes.
  • Perform regular payroll duties on a daily, weekly, bi-weekly and monthly basis.
  • Prepare and submit accurate reporting for ROE, Garnishment and other reporting requirements.
  • Process calculation and uploading data to pay line, running and reviewing query, validating deductions accuracy and compliance
  • Perform complex manual calculations for various payroll requests, which includes balancing salary of entitlement, retroactive rate increases and late timesheet data.

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal/written communications skills, experience writing business requirements and the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft HCM-Payroll for North America system
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to perform complex calculations with speed and accuracy.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Thorough knowledge of government regulations as they pertain to processing payroll in Canada..

Qualification & Experience:

  • Completion of Payroll Compliance Practitioners Certification (PCP) or working towards completion.
  • Minimum completed one (1) year certificate in Office/Business/Accounting Administration. If education is in another field of study, state how it is related.
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience processing full cycle payroll within a unionized and non-unionized organization with multiple divisions/departments, using a computerized payroll software system.
